Travel Notes With Footwear Designer Roman Pons Moll

The Footwear Designer shares his passion for the island’s majestic light and the places to go to find adventure.

First thing I do everyday...

When I wake up in the morning the first thing I do is salute the sun and the second thing I do is I water my plants. I cannot start my day until these two things are done.

I always make time to...

Go for an evening swim.

Describe the island in three words...

Luminous, alive and soundful. The noise of Menorca is incredible. It has everything from loud rolling thunderstorms to a peaceful, quiet stillness. The noises of the countryside, the nature is what makes Menorca special.

What do you think is Menorca’s Secret Style...

To find an unknown path covered with trees and seeing the sunlight shining through its leaves. My favourite place this happens is on the road down to Santo Tomas from
Es Migjorn.

Where to go for an adventure...

Kayaking between Cala En Porter and Es Canutells. Exploring secret caves and watching the sunset on the water.

A relaxation tip...

A walk in the countryside through the Cami Vell in Es Migjorn or to Cova des Coloms, a natural cave found on the cliffs of Binigaus with a ceiling height of 24m, a very peaceful place to sit and take a moment.

An unmissable view...

A cold beer in Es Bruc, Playa de San Adeodato.

An insider secret...

The change into winter on the island. To sit and enjoy a thunderstorm, it’s a beautiful natural concept, like a concert, very theatrical. The noise of the wind hitting trees, the lightening, the dark clouds - it’s an experience, you feel that the island is alive.

My favourite thing about the island is...

Banya dolça from Can Sintes in Alaior.

Favourite restaurant...

Ca Na Marga, Platges de Fornells for steak - Es Moli De Foc, Sant Climente for Arroz negro.

Best place to stay...

For me, my favourite place to stay is Hotel Ses Sucreres, a beautiful, small boutique hotel in Ferreries.
